Bringing a sense of calm to chaos in a time when humanity needs it most, is Aubergine’s debut single Lonely Peak, a meditative-like listening experience sure to wash over you like a waterfall of peace and bliss.

A six-minute epic that straddles the lines of jazz, classical, hip-hop and modern psychedelia, Lonely Peak immerses listeners in a driving yet intricate soundscape of commanding horns and groove-laden bass bolstered by glittering keys and steady drums. A kaleidoscope of instruments expertly woven together, the quartet’s debut offering mirrors the peaks and troughs of the winding path that is life.

“To me, the song evokes imagery of an intense struggle, backdropped by beautiful surroundings,” said songwriter and keyboardist, Oliver Hughes.

“A peaceful, yet pensive piece, Lonely Peak portrays life at its most triumphant and its most miserable. Think of it as a guiding Sherpa, taking the listener on a journey to a mirror atop a mountain peak where they can sit and be at rest for the song’s six minutes.”

If ever there was a song that suited the need for self-care amidst the COVID-19 crisis, this is it. So be sure to take a moment to reflect and immerse yourself in Aubergine’s Lonely Peak.

Standing in solidarity with their beloved local music community, Aubergine are paying it forward with compliments to The Steele Syndicate, The Biology Of Plants and Joseph Rabjohns. The Steele Syndicate

The Steele Syndicate | Song: Sedona

Having seen The Steele Syndicate 20+ times they never disappoint. They put on a world class live show and it’s just so much fun. The horn lines just pop out of your speakers and the grooves are relentlessly funky.

The Biology Of Plants

The Biology Of Plants | Song: Ezra

The Biology Of Plants creates this thrilling amalgamation of genre. It’s the collision of beautiful melody and gnarly grooves that make this band so recognisable. They have created their own unique voice within instrumental music.

Joseph Rabjohns

Joseph Rabjohns | Song: Tides

I’ll often put Tides on to accompany my morning coffee. The ambience Joseph Rabjohns’ music offers is perfect. It’s got such soul and his guitar work is astounding.

A Song A Day For Solidarity is a series launched in response to the havoc COVID-19 is wreaking on our beloved music community. Every day until local venues re-open and gigs start flowing, we’ll be sharing a song by a local act to promote their work. These artists then ‘pay it forward’ giving shout outs to three other Queensland musicians they’re loving!
