Free education has the power to change the world, and QMusic’s Industry Connect program is doing just that, giving Queensland creatives the keys (for FREE) to build a sustainable career in the music industry.

Industry Connect is a six-part workshop program running throughout April – July, covering everything industry practitioners need to know about creating, managing, marketing and releasing music.

With some of the best minds in the biz facilitating the workshops, including personnel from BIGSOUND, APRA AMCOS and Mushroom Music to name a few, Industry Connect is a living, breathing, encyclopedia of first-hand knowledge from which artists of any age and skill level can gain invaluable insight.

“Industry Connect provides an abundance of information regarding various aspects of the music industry,” said 2017 participant, local singer-songwriter May Lyn.

“The program allowed my team and I to further develop our strategies and goals in promoting my work and gaining new opportunities which we hadn’t previously considered/been considered for. Through connecting with industry members, my work was noticed by the wider community, I received support with gig/festival opportunities and was approached by fellow artists interested in collaborating.”

Since attending Industry Connect last year, May Lyn has topped the 4ZZZ Charts with her sophomore EP Vessels, garnered international radio attention, facilitated her own workshops and spoken at APRA AMCOS’ recent International Women’s Day songwriting panel. She is just one of the 556 artists and music industry practitioners the program has helped so far.

On a mission to up-skill even more Queensland creatives this year, Industry Connect will be delivered across a greater number of regions, expanding to Toowoomba, Ipswich, Maroochydore and Noosa for the first time and returning to Cairns, Brisbane, Nambour and the Gold Coast.

Further placing artists in the path of opportunity, six Industry Connect participants will also be awarded a BIGSOUND bursary, covering delegate passes, flights, and accommodation to the renowned event taking place in Brisbane from 4 – 7 September.

Places at the Industry Connect free workshops are limited, so BOOK NOW to ensure you get the chance to learn from the ultimate music industry #dreamteam.

Industry Connect workshops are happening throughout QLD from April – July 2018. See below for workshop details, and visit the QMusic website for a full list of facilitators.

Industry Connect: Workshops Overview

Taken from QMusic Industry Connect website:

STARTING AT ZERO
The ‘Starting at Zero’ workshop presents a snapshot of the current music industry and gives you a chance to understand the market you are in. This workshop will also give you an opportunity to know the key functions of QMusic and APRA AMCOS, and how they can help you create a sustainable music industry career.

GET GOOD
At the heart of the music industry is the song. A song that has an authentic and genuine story to tell. A song people can relate to. This workshop will introduce a panel of Industry professionals who work specifically in this realm and will give you an opportunity to get your song heard.

IT’S A BUSINESS
While a great song is at the heart of the music industry and stories of success, understanding your creative micro business (artist and industry) and its structure can be the key to unlocking new revenue streams. This workshop sees creative business professionals share information and tools – helping you understand revenue streams and how to monetize them.

GETTING IT OUT THERE

In a digital world that is musically more competitive and crowded than ever before, what are the avenues for getting your music out to a public audience? Working with publicists, this workshop will give you a lowdown on their roles and provide you with a one-on-one feedback session.
