Lady Gaga may have an album titled Artpop, but quirky Brisbane songstress K Mak IS artpop. Imaginatively combining strings, electronic beats and operatic vocals, her spirited new single, Play With Me, packages A-grade musical elements into an easily accessible electro-pop tune.

The second single to be lifted from her upcoming EP SugoiPlay With Me has a slower and more ethereal pace than K Mak’s previous releases, delving into issues of the heart with a tongue-in-cheek twist.

Play With Me is about loving someone, missing someone and worrying about running out of time, but ultimately loving them anyway – all while trying to keep a sense of humour,” said Kathryn McKee (aka K Mak).

In true artpop form, K Mak is bringing Play With Me to life hosting a stunning single launch at Spring Hill Reservoir next month blending music with performance art.

“I’m stoked to have one of my all-time favourite musicians, Melbourne electric violinist XANI on board who’ll be launching some new vinyl. For my set I’ve compiled my dream team violinist, cellist and drummer, plus some opera singers and live dancers to launch the single in style. The space is unbelievable – visually and acoustically. I can’t wait!”

Spring Hill Reservoir is also the backdrop for the single’s accompanying music video, which is due for release soon.

Immerse yourself in the frustrations and playfulness of love and “come play” with K Mak’s delightful new tune!
