Mesmerizing, magnetic, magic. Neo-soul songstress Isabel unpacks the obsession of keeping up with the best of everything on her dreamy new single Sparks, out 18 September.

Fusing pensive vocal melodies and an infectiously hypnotic beat with slick electronic RnB production, Isabel’s latest musing will make you think twice about keeping up with things like The Kardashians, fast fashion, fads or whatever your latest quick-fix obsession may be.

Sparks reflects on the romanticised concept of fast infatuation, how some people can easily become so passionately invested in something for a split second; whether it be a hobby, relationship, fashion or trend and then just as easily lose interest, moving on quickly to become passionately invested in the next thing,” said Isabel.

After racking up over 8 million streams on Spotify for her breakout single Fences in 2016, as well as securing airplay on Triple J and a top charting position on Hype Machine, Isabel has been on hiatus since the release of her last single Patterns in 2017. Behind-the-scenes she’s been keeping busy, from graduating university in Brisbane and studying music production in Sydney to honing her craft as a musician and producer in Melbourne, where she’s currently living.

Last year she dipped her toe into the world of collaboration, lending her talent to fellow Queenslander Christian Patey’s single Better Way, and this year she’s donning the producer hat with Sparks taking the cake as her very first self-produced release. It’s been a whirlwind couple of years out of the spotlight, but now the Brisbane native is ready to reignite her music career with a slew of exciting projects already in the works.

“I’m working on new music, gearing up to release an EP and my debut album within the next 12-18 months and I’m also looking forward to being part of various collaborations with other artists.”

“I’m really excited and it definitely feels right to be sharing new music again.”

Reignite your passion for life and give a warm welcome back to Isabel by streaming her enchanting comeback single Sparks, exclusively below before it drops tomorrow, Friday 18 September.
