A change-maker content with marching to the beat of her own drum, Hannah Ana forges an encouraging path for anyone who dares to dream big on her debut EP, Visions, out 6 September.

Smitten with music for as long as she can remember, this Canadian native turned Brisbane songstress, has always had a rebellious streak and penchant for big ideas. As a young child she recalls composing her own melodies instead of learning her piano recital materials, birthing a lifelong love for song-writing.

Influenced by everything from cinematic alternative-pop acts like Lana Del Ray to classic rock outfits like Radiohead, Hannah’s debut EP blends soaring soundscapes, angelic-level vocals and lyrical themes of self-discovery and belonging.

Visions is essentially a culmination of the journey I’ve been on since I moved to Australia; years of discovering who I am, both as an artist and a person, and finetuning my craft to create art I believe to be meaningful and impactful,” said Hannah.

“This EP represents everything I have worked towards, but also everything that could, potentially be in the future. This is the beginning of my journey and Visions paints a picture for how I wish to evolve as an artist, and how I believe music and art can contribute to a better world for us all.”

Featuring five heartfelt tracks that explore inner healing (Oceanside), heartfelt conversations you never want to end (Stay With Me), writing to one’s younger self (Letters), and leaving those you love behind (Without You) to find your feet in a new home on the other side of the world (Lost & Found), Visions is a mesmerising masterpiece of musical storytelling, which Hannah is looking forward to bringing to life at her EP launch at Bloodhound Bar on 13 September.

“It’s going to be a beautiful, intimate evening filled with melodic storytelling – reflecting on themes inspired by dreams, nature and self-discovery. They’ll be everything from cinematic keyboard confessionals to acoustic folk-style ballads. My goal is to touch, move and inspire with these songs and stories.”

Defining success by the yardsticks of internal growth and creating meaningful work that connects with people, Hannah provides a roadmap of her own self-discovery experience in a way that empowers others to take their own introspective journey.

“If you’ve got a big dream or vision and it feels a little overwhelming, just start with one step. And remember, you are your own worst critic! Get out of your own way and just do it (and be kind to yourself in the process).”
