If your girlfriend likes dogs, she’s a keeper; at the least that’s the advice Brisbane folk-blues rockers Fugitive & The Vagabond are dishing out on their latest single My Girlfriend.

With lyrics describing the woman in focus as everything from a “loner” to a “stoner,” “lazy” to the “lead singer of Macy’s,” My Girlfriend is a laidback track that takes a satirical swipe at relationships.

It’s the second single to be released from the band’s forthcoming album Novella, which lead singer Jordan Merrick describes as a diverse collection of musical stories.

My Girlfriend is definitely one of the less serious songs on the album. No two songs on the record are the same lyrically or musically, yet they all blend together like chapters in a book,” he said.

“I think My Girlfriend gives listeners a taste of the record’s versatility, and hopefully a laugh or two in the process.”

Taking inspiration from bands like The Doors, The Zombies and Highway 61’, My Girlfriend is musically progressive and sure to have audiences chanting when the band tours the single down the East Coast throughout September and October.

If you’re looking for a song to please your ears AND tickle your funny bone, give My Girlfriend a play!
