Leading the movement for community spirit during these uncertain times, Queensland songbirds Ella Fence and Christian Patey have teamed up to usher in hope on their gorgeous new single About You, out 10 April.
Juggernauts in their own respective scenes, Ella and Christian make a formidable force, combining hip hop rhythms, elastic beats and grooves into a darkly sensual and telling piece that fans of acts like Halsey, 6lack, Jamie xx and Lana Del Ray will adore. Initially written about a relationship, Ella says the song has taken on new meaning amidst the COVID-19 crisis, becoming a beacon of support and encouragement.
“About You is derived from the overwhelmingly uncomfortable feelings of uncertainty. It’s about remaining hopeful and holding tightly to what you find most important in life,” said the Gold Coast songstress.
“While the song was originally written about a relationship, Christian and I wanted to honour our commitment we made to fans, to release this track, in an effort to unify us as a collective and evoke feelings of elation, companionship and togetherness throughout these unprecedented times for all.”
With Christian at the helm as producer, listeners are taken on an intimate and enigmatic journey as the duet’s vocals glide above an electronic sound bed. About You is the latest in a series of collaborations between the pair that includes previous releases Aeroplane Mode and Waterside.
