There’s one week in the Brisbane music calendar every year that is purely magical. Yes, we’re talking about BIGSOUND week – a week where Brisbane plays host to some of the biggest minds in music and the hottest up-and-coming talent from around the globe.
Now, as if we weren’t already feeling like kids who over-ate in a musical candy store (150 acts across 15 venues – drool), the good community of Brisbane is rallying around BIGSOUND, with plenty of unofficial “sideshows” popping up all over Fortitude Valley and surrounds.
So, if you can’t afford a BIGSOUND ticket, or you’re looking to have even MORE BIGSOUND fun, here’s our not-so-secret-squirrels guide to the rowdiest BIGSOUND sideshows you should show your face at!

A solid party begins with a pre-party, and Mucho-Bravado, Amplifire Music, Track & Field, Young Henrys and Sailor Jerry have got the BIGSOUND pre-party sorted with The Night Before BIGSOUND. Playing across two stages will be some of the most promising up-and-coming acts, including many from Mucho Bravado’s stellar local roster. So, get in early and let The Night Before BIGSOUND prepare you for the three-day festivities to come!

“Everything’s happy underground” at BIGSOUND and the legends at FOOTSTOMP Music have checked their roster and checked it twice to bring together some of the best acts to warm you BIGSOUND each night. So get down to Greaser Bar for food, drinks and great fucking music.
It all kicks off on Wednesday with a rocking line-up consisting of ROI, DEEDS, Old Fashion, The Bear Hunt, ELKO FIELDS and a very special guest appearance straight from Freudal Japan.
Capre gon’ give it to ya first up on Thursday followed by some of the best Australian acoustic and indie/roots artists with Amela, Colin Lillie (NT Song Of The Year Winner), Leanne Tennant Music (QMusic award winner), Danny Ross and Shag Rock!
The last session (kicking off at 2:15pm) on Friday, you’ll be able to see Doolie (QMusic award winner), Quintessential Doll (Qmusic Award Winner), Tia Gostelow (Triple J Unearthed award winner), M.E. Baird – Music, Michael David Thomas and last but definitely not least Apakatjah!

CLIPPED Music Video Festival brings a slice of its program from Vivid Sydney to BIGSOUND 2016 for two nights only. Highlights of the film festival programme will be screened at The New Globe Theatre (Cinema Room) on the 7th & 8th of September from 7pm until late. It’s a great opportunity for audiences to chill out and watch fantastic award winning music videos on the big screen, in addition to a curated selection of our favourite clips from BIGSOUND 2016 artists.

Returning for its second year in a row, Rics Big Backyard presents BIGSOUND Blow Out #2 – the must attend BIGSOUND after party that’s 100 per cent free! There’s an array of awesome local acts on hand to help celebrate the end of another BIGSOUND, including The Stiffys, The Steele Syndicate, Graham Moes, Golden Age Of Ballooning and Until Home.
