The opening track of The Way We Were’s debut EP may say The Best Is Yet To Come, but with this record, they’ve already started off at the top. Forget filler tracks, The Way We Were deliver five ballsy punk-rock tunes that will have even the most reserved souls chanting and fist-pumping.
The Best Is Yet To Come is loud and sets the record’s fast tempo, while Youth Epidemic layers punk vocals on top of a rock-turned-dance tune that you can really groove and shake to. Serenade For The Unknown throws some sweet emotions into the mix and is sure to get everyone screaming the chorus line “I’ll be waiting here for you” at gigs. And So The Story Goes continues this sentiment before Days Gone By ends the EP with a straight-up, in-your-face punk kick.
Overall, this is a fun, uplifting EP that maintains a solid sound throughout. If the best is still yet to come, we can’t wait to see what these Brisbane punk-rockers do next!
Listen to the EP, and catch the band at their EP Launch this Friday night, 22 January at The Milk Factory.
